Time To Move On

These time changes going east are different.  We now have added two hours to the clock just from a couple of days ago.  So now when I get up at 3 or 4 AM  it’s 5 or 6 AM local time.  I don’t go back to bed in other words.  At least not yet.  It’s all part of traveling at a fast pace of 300 miles per day.  We sat out west longer so we have to travel like this to make our Dr appointments in Texas. It’s that simple.

We pulled out about 8:30 AM with another 300 miles to do.

The fuse blew for the left turn/brake light for the tow truck again. After we parked I worked on finding what made the fuse blow several times.  I even changed the plug on the RV.  What a gaggle.  I ended up blowing the fuse for the clearance lights.  Now I can’t find it.  The truck light remains out.DSC_0001

Fredericksburg, TX.  This town was very heavy with tourists.DSC_0010

I called Hill Country RV Park near Fredericksburg, TX during the day.  I reserved a 75’ pull thru, FHU, 50 AMP, cable TV, free Wi-Fi for $25.

We stopped in Sonora, TX for fuel for the Mariner.  I got $50 to ensure I made it to Livingston.  The Mariner got 41.2 MPG this time.  Ooooh Rahhhhh. Gas was $3.79 and dsl was $3.99.  About the same for Livingston.

We arrive about 2:30 PM and plugged into that 50 AMP immediately.  Our outdoor temp gauge said 100 degrees which I don’t believe but it’s in the 90s for sure.

Las Cruses Road Runner Gone

I decided to get fuel in Las Cruces today vice Anthony, TX.  It’s about 10 cents a gallon cheaper in Las Cruces which will save us about $10-11.  That’s a cheap breakfast somewhere.  As full timers I’m always on the look out for less expensive fuel.  Since I can go over 800 miles without a stop, I do have choices. I use the Flying J/Pilot web page and MSM autos for current fuel prices.  I do not stop at the Ma Pa type fuel stops. It just isn’t worth it if you get a bad tank of fuel.  That’s 150 gallons for me and at $4+ a gallon it’s just not worth it like I said.  Our next fuel stop will be in Sonora for Carol’s car.  It’s about a 850 mile run to Livingston from there.  The Beast might not need any until then depending on it’s fuel mileage of course.  I will fill up in Livingston because it’s a real good price there being under $4 a gallon (dsl).  The Beast will set with a full tank of fuel for one month.

Here we go on our 300 mile day times two.DSC_0001

That's the Jennings ahead of us.  We told them about this place back at Deming yesterday.DSC_0039

Love’s just west of Las Cruses was $3.75 gas and dsl was $3.98 cash. The Mariner got 39.5 MPG and the Beast got 6.8 MPG.

Road Runner – gone… That big Road Runner art piece that was on the west side of Las Cruces at the rest stop is gone.  It was really neat when you saw it up close.  It was about 30 feet or so high and made out of junk.  Hopefully it is in for repairs.

Summer has arrived here for us in Balmorhea, TX. How does 93 degrees sound.  Oh yea, it’s a dry heat as people say for an excuse.  It’s hot to me!

When it cooled down to the 80’s I found the problem with the tuck’s left tail/brake light not working.  It was a fuse.  I had to call Newmar to find out where the fuse was.  No problem.  After a few minutes they informed me right where it was.  I changed out the fuse and now it works.  Oooooh rahhh…..

Tomorrow we aren’t sure where we will end up.  Not sure if will be too hot to boone dock.  We avoid boone docking in 90 plus degrees.

350 Miles Times 2

I drove 350 miles and Carol drove 350 miles.  I drove the Beast towing the truck and she drove her Mariner.  The car is getting 38 MPG and the Beast is getting 6 something.  All is well.

BLM, & Hinman’s

I slept in till about 6 AM. The sun was just starting to wake up too. It was a quiet night.

We watched TV until about 10 PM last night. We turned off the inverter and it was at 12.8 Volts. It’s now at 12.7 Volts with the inverter still off. Plenty of juice.

We all had breakfast in the club house about 8:30.  Earlene and Jerry drove down from Congress and spent the night.  I took some pics of Marlene & Frank’s place.DSC_0003

This is all there’s. The building on the right is their club house.DSC_0001 DSC_0002

I took Earlene for a ride in the Razor.  She said that she would like for her and Jerry to get one.  Later I took Marlene out and she really liked it too!SDC12687SDC12681 SDC12682

This little hill was fun…..SDC12686

For diner we fixed some deep fried halibut and some mesquite smoked pork loin.  Damn that was good!

That evening we hooked up the truck after loading the Razor.  Frank & I worked on the electrical tow problem earlier.  We couldn’t find the problem with the left truck brake/tail light outage.  It’s not the truck or the electrical chord.  Next to check will be the RV plug connection.  The water connection inlet problem (leaky check valve)  I temporary fixed it until Livingston.

Tomorrow we head for Deming.

It’s been fun guys, THANKS.

See ya………….
