RVers Weather - RV For Sale!

NOT….It’s very windy today (not like Yuma though), cold (45 degrees) and raining.  This morning I have to take the RV in the repair shop at 9AM to get the Norcold frig recall done.  First I have to do a dump before we leave.  Our gray water is over filled.  I don’t want to move with a full grey water tank.  If I was too move the water would splash out the drains/shower and make a mess.  Been there done that.  Just another day in a RVer’s life.

I don’t know if it’s the lifestyle or old age but I really am starting to hate any coldness below 50 degrees.  Hot weather I can deal with.  Just get naked and run around.  I know just layer your clothing for cold weather but then I feel like a penguin and can’t move.

Arrived at Joel West RV Repair at 9AM.  I was in out by 9:45.  They installed a small device that detects high temps (near fire temps) and will shut down the frig.  I like my preventative device better.  I got it from Mac the Fire Guy.  It’s a fire sensitive fire extinguisher.  It has one of those do dads like you see in ceilings at stores.  I installed it myself. That means I screwed two screws into the wood at the rear of the frig (outside).  Rick West (son of Joel West – duh) asked me some questions about it.  He loves it and wants to sell them at his shop/store.  I will get him in touch with Mac McCoy the fire guy.

Here’s the device that Norcold is installing on the Frig’s with it’s last recall.DSC_0001

Here’s our device.  My device is bigger and safer….DSC_0002

Well, we have entertained the thought and now we have decided to sell the Phaeton and go with a BIGGER older RV.  If you know of someone that might be interested let us know quick.  It’s a 2008 40’ QDH and I might leave the Good Sam warranty (expires 2012) with it.  Contact us at 530 878-0111 or email at rvschool@wizwire.com for a lot more details.  Price depends on what I leave on the coach like the solar panels/system, datastorm, etc.  It’s priced in the 150’s accordingly. Going going gone…in the rain.

Of course it’s raining when Carol’s bro wanted to leave.DSC_0002-1

Gone………DSC_0007

Carol’s bro has about 1250 miles to go and plans to be back in Maryland tomorrow.  You gotta do what you have to do when you aren’t retired.

We caught up on some odd jobs today and organized for the two weeks ahead.  It rained off and on most of the day which wasn’t that bad especially with the warm temperatures.  We will then go back to Red Bay, AL (Tiffin) for the last of our warranty work.

We might take a side trip to Lazydays down in FL, who knows?

Electrically A OK…

Hey, he’s (Carol’s Bro) finished the wiring of two sites and the barn.  He’s the electrician but how come I feel so burnt out.  I only had to dig one hole today.  That was for our site.  He moved the 50 AMP receptacle up about two feet and rewired it and part of the main electric box.  It had some future problems that he took care of.  Besides being Carol’s bro he’s a friend and a true professional.  His work can only be done one way – the right way, the professional way.

DSC_0001 DSC_0002 DSC_0003

We’re done with all the work.  Let me correct that.  He’s finished all the work.  It not only works well, it looks good.  Nice job Steven – thanks!

Friends are rolling out.  Steven is leaving tomorrow morning after breakfast.  Sharon & Don are leaving too after a quick stop for a frig recall.  Art & Caroline will be around for a few days then leave.  Carol & I have a list of To Do’s that are about 20 miles long.  This list involves things around the mobile/lot here.  I’m really starting to remember what it was like not having a lot/mobile – a lot less work.

Anyhow, gotta go say some byes………

Today Starts At 5 AM

At 5 AM I was up and setting the controls on the smoker for the 16 lb turkey.  This baby I will set for 225 degrees for 10 hours.  The ham is precooked so that will go in the oven about 4 ish or so with low temps.  Dinner for nine (probably more) will go about 5:30 this evening.

It’s starting to look pretty good.DSC_0001

On The Road Again & A Lot More

Well, 225 miles to Livingston, 4 rig caravan leaving about 9 AM and rain – what does it mean?  It didn’t work this time. The rain screwed up the departing time.  Why get soaked basically.  Carol’s brother and us were ready the night before so we could and did leave about 9 AM.  We said our good byes to all and departed.  It was another blast at Betty’s with good friends.  We had things we wanted to do in Livingston.  We left in a light rain, drove in light rained and arrived in sunshine.DSC_0001 DSC_0003

We got to work right away.  We had to dig about a 40 foot trench for the new 50 AMP service at our extra site.  Also we were going to raise the water and sewer connection.  Then he was going to wire the barn for electricity with a service box, outlets and lights.  This is Carol’s brother, Steven,  the electrician doing the figuring.  He does things only one way – the right way, he’s a real perfectionist because he is a true professional.  He’s working me…. Here I’m suggesting that I go in town to get what ever he needs.  Nope, didn’t work.DSC_0004

I broke the surface  with a shovel and pick.  He did the real digging.DSC_0005

And we (he) went into the darkness.DSC_0007

Coming in from the street.  Steven said he needed to do some work here too.DSC_0016

DSC_0009

He brought most of the stuff and two trips to Lowe’s about did it.  He said the barn will be tomorrow after the out door site is completed.DSC_0017

During the day Don/Sharon & Art/Caroline arrived here at Livingston.  We talked to them briefly.  Hey, you know what time it is?  It’s smoker time.  I got a turkey & ham before we left.  Tomorrow I will smoke the turkey and everyone will come over for smoked turkey for dinner.

Anyhow, after digging the ditch, Carol’s brother, Steven, wanted to go out.  We went to Vanity Fair, Lowe’s and Wal-Mart.  We got back to the rig about 10 PM or so.  I got the turkey ready for tomorrow and stuck it in the smoker for a 5AM start time.  It’s cold enough outside that it will be fine.  It’s 10:30 and time to hit the sack.

Tomorrow we will be w o r k i n g……

See ya……….

Thanksgiving & Midnight At Wal-Mart

We started off with a breakfast for champions – old ones.DSC_0002

Then Bob fired up his turkey fryer.DSC_0003

Now that’s what I call golden brown.DSC_0004

Not a good place to be for dieters. DSC_0006

None here….DSC_0007 DSC_0008

We decided to to have another adventure later on. We haven’t been out on Black Friday for 20 years or so.  About 10 of midnight we left for Wal-Mart.  We arrived and couldn’t find a parking space – unbelievable.  All the way down towards the end of the lot we found one.  They’re were only one set of doors in and one out.  People were already inside.  No shopping carts available what so ever. People were all over the place.  Wal-Mart had their goodies on pallets in the middle of the aisle which made easy to find the special “stuff” but hard to move around people with two and three carts.  What a friggin zoo but fun at the same time. We got our goodies and headed for the checkout counter.  They only had 7 open.  What a BIG mistake.  It got a little rowdy people hollering for more cashiers.  But over all it was cool – no shoppers getting angry at each other, plenty of “stuff” on supper sale.  We got out and back to the RV.  Total time lapsed – less than 45 minutes.  Mission accomplished and no reason to do it for another decade or so..

See Ya………….

Betty’s Web

First it’s crawfish time.  Cooking crawfish is very similar to cooking crabs.  I will take either after they have been cooked.  You can cook them or I will, it don’t matter.  You can buy them though!

 DSC_0002 DSC_0003 DSC_0004 DSC_0001

Big Art gave up.  He said he could to eat them all day and not get filled up.  We got two batches and this was the first batch on the table.   I was the last man standing (setting & eating) when it was all said and done.  I thought I would be among the first to leave but was the last one eating these little bugs.P1040109

Now for Betty’s Web.  It’s easy to get caught up in it.  If you are just a little outgoing and come here – you are caught.  She likes to socialize and share the Cajun stories & local happenings/tours.  Some are free and some aren’t. The choice is yours. Here are some of those that have been caught in Betty’s Web.DSC_0008

Here are some nice looking gentlemen that are very calm, collected and well respected.DSC_0017

OH MY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Betty’s Web did it again.  Stop the cameras this could get very ugly….DSC_0019
