Alaska Day 35 Last Day In Homer

Happy Father’s Day to us. Our kids called and said Happy Father’s day…thank you.

We started off with breakfast at Sourdough Express here in Homer. Dan Sheppard recommended it so we went.  It was an outstanding breakfast. More later…

We then went for the trolley tour of Homer.  It too was great and we recommend it. It was $12 for about an hour or so of the history of Homer. We got the “rest of the stories” which are too long to tell here. But here are some pics….DSC_0015

They had a model of the boat from the TV series Deadliest Catch. It’s named the Time Bandit.  It’s home port is here in Homer but they were out fishing.  Needless to say they are a big hit here in Alaska and especially Homer.DSC_0082 DSC_0083

Too close for me…DSC_0084 DSC_0085 DSC_0086 DSC_0088

Carol had to go to the bathroom. She looked to make sure no one was in there.DSC_0090

She really had to go and found the place.DSC_0092

Later it was time for diner and to celebrate Jim’s birthday. It was decided to try the Capt Patties again.  Sharon/Don & Jim/Pat got seated right away. After a 10 minute wait we found out our tables would not be together and we still had to wait longer even though half the tables were empty.  We left…..  Gary/Mary and Jean/Claudette left also because of no seating. The place was not that crowded but probably would have been later.  Carol & I went back to the Sourdough Express for a very nice diner. We had their Alaska King Crab special. Damn was it good. Hey, Homer Alaska and we just had to eat the king crab here.  Afterwards we then ran into Gary/Mary & Jean/Claudette at another eagle's nest.  They had a late lunch and hadn’t ate yet. They ended up heading for the Sourdough Express themselves.  Hope their meal was good as ours.

We had spent four nights at Homer Spit the “Lands End”. It was time to travel to other adventures up in Soldotna 80 miles back up north.DSC_0047
