Today was going to be the famous Discovery Boat ride later this afternoon. But first Carol & I decided to go to our future boone docking area to check it out. It ended up being further than we planned. Fifty miles from our present campground. I think the views along the way made it worth it. The road was a little titled and swaged a bit.
We caught this river rat trying to cross the road.
These are the ponds we will be at next week. NO MOOSE sighted during the ride or here. Skeeters were here and they were almost the size of moose. Since we know moose don’t fly we could tell them apart real easy.
Today we had lunch at this joint. Hey, we are trying to save money.
OK, the boat ride…….They’re were a few people there.
She’s a biggeeeee…..we were second in line and got out side seats on the third deck up front.
Once underway we got an float plane demo of landing and taking off right next to us.
That was cool. Then some houses along the river.
Here’s one we could afford. A little fixer upper.
Here’s Susan Butcher’s (deceased) husband showing how to work with huskies. Great presentation.
The dogs got to run into the water afterwards.
The change in the water color is from two different types of rivers running together. One is from glacier run off and the other is from snow melting run off.
Then we arrive at Chena River Village. It’s a made up village to show how the tribes once lived out in the wilderness. Pretty cool stuff since the presenters were of different tribe backgrounds.
Filleting a salmon and drying it out.
Fishing that is still used today.
You need a few modern things as time went on.
Time to go back. the gang is waiting for us. More houses along the way.
And here is another one that we might be able to afford.
Things can get dirty real quick up here, even in the city with there dirt side streets.
We ate dinner at one of Guy Ferreri’s Diners, & Dive places called the Cookie Jar. It sucked over all.
It still didn’t ruin a nice day ride on the river boat.
See ya….
