Alaska Day 59 Denali

At 8 o'clock the“gang” were in their sites here at Denali (Riley – Bear loop) getting ready to pull out this morning.  They are all headed for Fairbanks.DSC_0001 DSC_0002 DSC_0003 DSC_0005

Well, it’s 10 o'clock and everybody is now gone. We are all alone, us and thousands of tourists.  We've been left to defend for ourselves.

We are on the inverter and using the solar panels (4 lg) and it’s fine now that the sun is poking out ever once in awhile. We watched the  “Into The Wild” movie here in the rig.   It’s slow but meaningful about a young person departing from society and into Alaska.  Here’s a replica of his bus. He died in this bus (1992) on his wilderness adventure only a short distance from here.DSC_0030

We walked down to the post office to mail a letter and hoping to see some wild animals but not today.  DSC_0007

This post office is saving us money.  Yes, they have an out house for employees but they do have an extension chord running to it so they have heat at least.DSC_0006Our next mail pick up will be at the North Pole. I heard Santa Claus is there.

Why do truckers paint their tires like this.  It’s a trailer that is ran in the winter first off.  They paint the tires so when they go to move it they can make sure the tire is turning and the brakes aren’t frozen and locked up.DSC_0008

Exciting day for us…

See ya.
