Alaska Day 58 Denali Area Golden Eagles

Today (Tues) Jean & Claudette left for Fairbanks.  Tomorrow (Wed) everybody else leaves for Fairbanks except us.  We like it here so we are staying an extra two nights. Remember loosey goosey schedule for everybody.  We probably won’t be ALL together for about 10 days or so for various reasons to include repairs. Larry & Marilyn have to go back to Anchorage next week to get their new frig installed hopefully.

Today we decided to go and see a seminar on Golden Eagles at the visitor center here at Denali Nat Park. I learned that Golden Eagles prefer wide open land and hunt for things like rodents/rabbits and the like.  Bald Eagles like fish so they are usually around water. A young golden eagle get confused with immature bald eagles because they have light brown heads and white in their feathers similar to the bald eagles. Golden Eagles have feathers down to their talons (feet) and Bald Eagles do not.  The Bald Eagle is the larger of the two and the females are the largest in both birds.  They are in the raptor family.DSC_0002 DSC_0003 DSC_0008

We then decided to go to lunch with Larry & Marilyn. On the way we met someone special with two little ones. This mom looks so goofy…maybe because she is a mom.DSC_0013 DSC_0022 DSC_0023

I took the first shot of the moose and Carol took the rest along with these at the restaurant.DSC_0034 DSC_0035 DSC_0036 DSC_0038 DSC_0040

Nothing really unusual in this pizzeria up here. The pizza was really good.  You know what that means? We came back for diner and more people.SDC11802
