Several people looked up the weather for the Top Of The World Highway and Dawson city. It wasn’t looking good in a few days. Everybody figured if we drove a little harder to Dawson City we could beat it. It was gonna be a 330 mile day for everybody. So here we go from Whitehorse to Dawson City..
A cinnamon roll from Johnson’s Crossing ($8) and well worth it.
Carol’s giving Marilyn and Larry instructions on how to eat the cinnamon roll. Larry says he has done this before and doesn’t need any help.
And we arrive at the campground in Dawson City. $32 FHU 30 AMP TV, WiFi. It was a real nice drive with a few bad spots nothing major.
Here’s several of us in this shot.
The Yukon River and Dawson City hugs it’s shore line the other way.
That’s our ferry behind the log rushing down river. We wanted to take the ferry with the car & check it out.
Those two spots in the middle of the picture are Gary & Jean. Don’t they make a great couple?
The Dawson people use a great variety of colors in painting their buildings/homes. Maybe because their tired of seeing white all winter!
This is part of downtown. Very ahhh, very ahhh, yea right.
Dome rock is a must place to go in Dawson City and it’s free. We drove up this road to the top of the world it seemed like. What views.
Mary, Carol, Gary, Claudette and Jean. I dared them to take one more step without screaming – no takers.
Our campground is behind the blue roof for what ever that is worth…
We got back to the campground about 9 PM or so and sat around and jaw jacked for awhile. Earlier we did find out from the locals that the Top Of The World Highway is in the best condition it’s been in for many years and another change in the future weather. It’s now going to be outstanding weather. Today it got to 80 degrees here in Dawson. Tomorrow (Sat) we do some more sight seeing and the group will talk about the next few days plans for themselves – loosey goosey.
