Jon and Sue Glick came by to visit.  They are nearby and are going to Zion National Park probably Saturday and arrive here Sunday for the HOP.  A few HOP people are already here and we have met them all.  We are ready to share our fun with them.

Saturday will probably a day of rest for us all…kinda..

And The Jeep’s Name Is

“The Jeep”

We want to thank ALL of you for the suggestions.  We chose the easiest to remember at our age.

The other day the reason we turned around when we came across a big tree in our way is that we forgot the tow ropes.  We were in the Jeeps and the tow ropes were in the ATV side by sides.

Toady started off at 7 AM.  I was on a mission to get the Demco base plate installed.  I figured if I got stuck I had two more guys, Ed & Denny, to help and they did.

Here’s ALL the stuff I would like to get installed on “The Jeep” and that is the base plate and nerf bars (steps).DSCN0230

Here’s my tools and I’m at the ready.DSCN0231 DSCN0232

I got the front bumper and stuff off.  Well now what?  I needed some special tools that I didn’t have.DSCN0233

Here comes Ed out to help and Denny was soon to follow.DSCN0234

Total of five hours later we finished.  Mission accomplished.  Why five hours?  We are slow but damn good!  Now Carol don’t have to drive all over the country.  Just hook it to the motorhome and go.DSCN0235

We only had a few parts left over.  The directions didn’t say anything about reinstalling this front under belly air dam and we didn’t want to mess with it at this time.  It needs major cutting to install.  Another day maybe.DSCN0236

Next was to get a 5 inch drop hitch and install it and a ball.  After doing that the trailer sets just a few inches up from being level.  Mission accomplished.DSCN0237

Then I bought a spare tire lock and installed it with Ed’s help.  Mission accomplished.

Ed/Sandy & Carol & I went of for a short run with the side by side ATV’s.  We got a little familiar with the local terrain and ready for tomorrow’s double trail ATV practice run.  Carol is getting ready for tomorrow.DSCN0238

Later that evening it was time to install the nerf bars.  Ed, Denny and I knocked this project out of the park.   They went on real easy.  I think we finished about 9:30 PM.   Mission accomplished. “The Jeep” is ready to roll now.  Thanks guys. Pictures another day.  Now I can double tow with the motor home in a couple of weeks.  The trailer and the Razor will stay here while we go up to Moab for a week or so later on.  Then return here and pick up the trailer and double tow south.

See ya.

I’ve Seen The Light

We were asked why so much 4X4ing in just a few days. Well, we are getting familiar with the trails for the Escapees HOP of 4X4ing that we will help with next week. Ed & Sandy have gone over the trails last week and they wanted us to be familiar with them also. I have about 4-5 years of experience on ATVs on trails in the East but none in the west.

We were asked why we didn’t move the tree the other day by hooking tow straps and moving it with our Jeeps.DSCN0102

Quiz…….the answer is:

1)  Didn’t think about it.

2)  Tree would be pulled against another tree which can not be seen in the picture.

3)  Needed to do some physical work.

4)  Just bought the saw and wanted to try it out.

5)  Didn’t bring any straps.

6)  Wanted to show off to the girls.

7)  We did what the girls told us to do.

The answer is….tomorrow..but send me your answer today.

Names for the Jeep.  We got some real good ones.  Here are a few;  Rusty, Orange Crush, Sunkist, Naval, The Jeep, Dusty, Little Beast, Crusher, Orange Blossom Special, Orange Pump Can, Puff, Mango and Bufo.

Here is what happens.  Carol says, “Dennis, can you get the GPS out of the (Jeep) …………?”.

We decided to go with the name ……. Tell you tomorrow.

Now, today we went 4X4ing again and Mammoth Cave was the highlight.  Getting there..DSCN0215 DSCN0221 DSCN0222 DSCN0223  Hatch, UT 002

This ain’t gonna be my road kill..DSCN0226Hatch, UT 004-001 Hatch, UT 007

Which way do we go………Hatch, UT 015 Hatch, UT 018

The Mammoth Caves.  I’m leading the way.  We all went into the caves but only one went all the way through.  It was about a 100 yards long.  Towards the end the cave it got tighter and tighter.  Then “I saw the light” at the end of the tunnel.  I had to crawl on my belly the last 20 yards or so.  It was an adventure.  If someone would have told me that I was going to crawl on belly in a cave I would have told them NEVER and that they were frickin dreaming.  Never say never.Hatch, UT 021

Here’s Carol, Denny & Sandy.  Everybody chickened out!!!!! except one, ME!Hatch, UT 030-001

Today was just another adventure for sure…. I will never do that again.  I mean I will probably never ever do that again.

See ya…
