Getting to Moab

We got under way early and had about 360 miles to do which included over the Rockies.

No idea……DSC_0027 DSC_0035 DSC_0052

The Beast did very well going over the mountains.  It got down to 3rd gear twice.  The 400 Cummins engine/trans never went above 202 degrees.  Fuel mileage…..well, let’s don’t go there.DSC_0064 DSC_0067

And they meant it….DSC_0069

The Elks Lodge in Grand Junction and it had parking in the back.  We stopped at Cabela's.  What a friggin sporting store.DSC_0116

I got fuel in Grand Junction.  I found one place that had diesel for $3.73 a gallon.

This was a city sign at an intersection.DSC_0117 DSC_0122

We arrived at the Passport America OK RV Park around 4:30 PM just outside of Moab City.  For $20.50 we got a pull thru, 50 AMP full hook up with free WiFi and cable.  Plus a patch of grass, a tree and a table.  Oh boy oh boy….DSC_0140

The park had a cookout so what the hell.  Hamburgers and bring something for $5 a couple.  More than enough food.  We met some pretty nice folks. They are all Jeepers.  Meaning they have 4X4 Jeeps.DSC_0141

They had a picture contest.  I entered mine and came in second to a picture of a double rainbow entered by the park manager.  I won a grill veggie holder cooker – pretty nice.DSC_0143

It got up to 101 degrees.  I tried running our 3 ACs but blew the power at the post.   Someone told me I couldn’t blow a 50 AMP service.  I will try again tomorrow.

We got the low down on a ATV trail just down the road that we will try out first thing tomorrow.  Later we will go to the visitor center and pick up maps.  Hopefully our new little camera will come in tomorrow afternoon.  My Nikon D90 does not go out ATVing.

See ya….
