I called Cummins to verify what the warranty is on our 400 horsepower ISL diesel engine. Just wanted to double/triple check. I gave them only the serial number and they came back with a 5 year/100,000 miles warranty. I asked them what they had for a in service date (start) and they came back with 4 January 2011. He said that it must have sat somewhere since it’s an 2006 engine. The reason I called Cummins is that the engine has a minor rear oil seal leak and a front timing cover leak. Both are minor and are not leaking on the ground but are leaking more than they should be. Carol’s brother (Cummins mechanic) saw them earlier this year and said to watch them for now. They are covered and it’s about a 2 or 3 day job next time when we get back to Baltimore. It has used 1 quart of oil in about 15K miles. That’s not bad at all. Next service will be around another 3-5K miles. The book calls for service at 20K miles. It carries 24 quarts of oil.
Our schedule for the remainder of the year is pretty well set and has just about turned into hard Jello. Might be one major change and we could return to Texas in late September vice early November. Too many variables to list. Some we have control over and some we don’t. This is our normal schedule as full timers like other full timers. Subject to change….
Carol went to a line dance in the evening. I would have gone but I was too busy counting my toes.
Tomorrow (really this AM) I accomplished a very big personal milestone. Details to follow tomorrow.
See ya……………..
