Carol & Walt’s Birthdays.

Here we are at Ed & Sandy’s place with a few toys. DSC_0103Still raining… all day.

It’s another get together.  Bob & Tami are fixing chimachungas  (sp) for a bunch of us for dinner.  We’re celebrating Carol & Walt’s birthdays over at Denny & Susie’s place.DSC_0106 DSC_0107 DSC_0110

Bob & Tami sung for us and Tami played the guitar too.DSC_0122 Bob couldn’t sing at all but enjoyed playing as if he could.

Wash Day

Wash Day meaning it’s raining and the rig is getting a wash.  No more Quartzsite dust on it.  Just the hard stuff.  It’s on my list to wash.

Still got the RZR.  Price down to $7,500 on Craig’s List now.

I got over 50+ people wanting me to let them join my Facebook or something.  Ain’t got one.  No time soon for Facebook.

Carol & I went to Jack In the Box for Breakfast.  It’s cheap and we like it for a break every once in a while.  Next was to go to the local grocery stores with their sale ads in hand.  Got some pretty good deals.

It rained most of the day……

I supervised (watched) Ed & Denny working on getting Ed’s new Jeep (2012) all wired up to tow. They had a few glitches but kept at it. Without my supervision I’m sure they would have finished about a half hour earlier.

A couple of lookie lou’s on the Polaris RZR today. I think if I would have charged to look at it I would be better off. It’s only a matter of time.

Party Time

About 4 PM we went over to the Pelly’s for a very special get together.  Ernie & Kolume (sp) were here and staying with the Pelly’s for a couple of days.  There were a lot of their old time friends there to say HI to.  We knew just about all of them old friends too.  Oh no, we’re old too!  I think we were just about the youngest old.

Crooks

Henderson Harley made me an offer on a new 2015 Harley trike. I said for them to put it in writing and they did and sent it to me. Later that day I get an email saying the owner didn’t like it and withdrew the offer. That’s down right poor business or the old bait and switch game.  Crooks!

Earlier a couple showed up at 8:30 AM to look at the RZR again.  He took it out for a ride, looked over the titles, manuals, asked some more questions and then said, “I’m not a spur of the moment buyer and I want to think about some more.”  They left.  The RZR is still for sale… a lot of local lookie lous here in the park.

The “Gang” went out to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner.  Carol & Walt have a birthday coming up and they got sung to and a free custard thing.

Bellies are full.

See ya.

Chit Chat Around

Nutin doing today.  Stuck around the neighborhood because of my Polaris RZR being up for sale.  A lot of local interest but no cash.  Got one coming back for a 2nd look at 8:30 AM tomorrow morning.  I think this one will be the one.

I got several Harley dealers calling/emailing with the deals of the decades they have.  I’m waiting for the deal of the century.  I keep making them my offers but they chuckle and refuse.

Ed Kruty said he would build a big bike trailer if I supplied the parts and some labor.  Hey, I can hand him any tool or part that he needs.  Mark told him not to let me touch any tools though.  If you need something tighten, I’m your man.  I can test the strength of any bolt and usually do.

4 o’clock was here at Ed & Sandy's.  The gang all came over – Ed & Sandy of course, Denny/Susie, Walt/Kellie,  Bob/Tami, and Carol & I.   Mark even showed up.  One of the subjects was trying to get Carol a smart phone and a full time masseuse.  Hope I spelled that right.  One of those massage people.  Good thing I had some lookie lou’s at the Polaris RZR that I talked to.

Smoked Pulled Pork

I had several people stop by and check out the Polaris RZR we have for sale.  Plus I got two phone inquires from Craig's List.  It appears the buyer is around and it’s just a matter of time.

I washed the Harley.  It had a lot of Quartzsite dust all over it.  It was the first time I’ve ever washed it.  I usually just wipe it down real good.  Afterwards I unloaded it from the trailer and put in on the side of the RV out of sight.  When it dried I put the cover on it.

Ed & Sandy were the hosts for tonight’s dinner.  Thanks guys… I supplied the smoked pulled pork.  It was one that I smoked in Texas and put in the freezer afterwards.  Sandy heated it up and it turned out perfect.  It was tender and juicy.  Couldn’t tell it had been frozen at all.  Denny/Susie, Ed/ Sandy, Steve/Lila, Bob/Tami all appeared to have enjoyed the smoked pork.

I left the gathering early.  I got so sleepy that I had to leave.  I guess I still have a little jet lag from the exciting weekend before.

Let’s see.  I’ve washed the Polaris RZR, the Jeep and the Harley.  The bigee is left – the RV.  Maybe tomorrow.

Some pics tomorrow hopefully.

See ya……….

It’s On Craig’s List

 DSC_0061 DSC_0054

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/snw/4861641511.html

Steve Dudley came over and helped me put the RZR on Craig’s List.  Now’s the hard part….. waiting.

Holy crap,  the wind really shook the RV this morning.  It’s strong and when the temps are in the 40’s… whoa.. it’s really cold.  Later in the day the wind died and the temps got up into the 70s.

Tonight the guys went into town in Denny’s Fun Mobile and saw the movie “Sniper.”  The girls got together and do what ever they do.  I’m pretty sure the girls share stories with each other on how to keep their man happy.

Gone Again…..

We moved to Ed & Sandy Kruty’s lot at the Escapees Park (North Ranch) in Congress, AZ.  It’s about 100 miles away.  We spent two weeks in the desert without hookups,  plus one weekend in the hospital.  We needed to get away from the dusty, dirty atmosphere.  It was time to leave.  Windy, dusty and just not feeling the greatest.  I’m about 90% back to normal but Carol is slow to recover.  We both still have the “cough.”  The last three years in AZ I’ve been ended up in the hospital or/and sick.  We just might give AZ a rest next year.

Bob & Tami, Ed & Sandy and Denny & Susie also came back to North Ranch.  We’re all within a block of each.  No wind, no dust, full hook ups, ahhhhhhhhh what a relief it is!

I washed the Polaris RZR.  I’m getting ready to put it on Craig’s List.  The Harley is still on the trailer but it will have to wait.  The RV needs a good outside wipe down to catch some of the dust that has covered it.  I washed the Jeep too at the self car wash.

What? Again……!

Two ambulance rides, one medical airplane flight and two hospitals for me this weekend.  How was your weekend?

Seems like a couple of years ago I ended up being life flighted out of the desert.  Not this time.  We drove to the hospital and then got life flighted out from there.

Why this time?  No I didn’t fall off the motorcycle or another ATV accident.  A kick ass flu that affected my heart got me and sent me in a whirlwind of good help.  Blythe Hospital said it was above their pay grade to help so they transferred me via Life Flight to the AZ Heart Hospital in Phoenix. They fixed me…..

That’s why no blog.  I’m still not up to snuff  so the blog will come out when I get back to full capacity.  My body batteries are charging back up pretty good.

Carol stayed with me in the hospital and slept over.  I had a hard time keeping her out of my bed at night.  Being a caring and sharing husband I gave her a small portion of the flu that she is suffering thru now.  I’m sharing my good scripts with her.  Hey, I gave it to her so I need to help her.

So that be it……

Working the Solar

A bunch of us went to La Mesa RV for their free pancake breakfast.  It is what it is…pancakes and free.then we went to a retail store looking around at stuff.  I did a dump and ate two bags of free popcorn.  Back to the RV.  Carol was line dancing all this time.

We ran the generator to charge the batteries last night then turned off the inverter.  The batteries settled down to 12.7 volts.  In the morning they were still setting at 12.7 volts.  When the sun hit the solar panels we turned on the inverter.  Yes, the frig and freezer (with smoked pork and Alaska halibut) temps were OK being off for about 10 hours.  With the solar charging and the inverter on the batteries went up and stayed around 13.5 which is real good.  Seems like everything is running the way it should by turning off the inverter at night basically.  It appears we half to run the generator about 1 to 1 1/2 hours each night with our use of electricity.

Carol went to the SKP social at 1 PM and I stayed around the rig.  I made some smoked pulled pork for Johnny Goodwin.  I’ve been doing this for a few years now.  He loves those sandwiches.  He’s the singer over at the SKP social.  I took him the sandwiches about 2 PM.

Early evening a bunch of us drove up to the Parker Elks for their Mexican diner.  It was pretty good and fun.

Another fun action day in Quartzsite.

See ya………..

RVers Everywhere…..

Today was the SKP Social here in Quartzsite.  A lot of friends to say, “Hi” to again.DSCN0577 DSCN0578 DSCN0579 Jim Guild of the “Geeks On Tour” flew is drone with a Go Pro camera attached.  That will be interesting to see when he gets the video ready for showing of the gathering.

That was pretty much the high light of the day.

It’s 4 AM and I just turned off a neighbors very loud portable generator.  It’s friggin 4 AM…..  No generators from 10 PM to 6 AM out here in the 14 day BLM land.  I guess they missed that pretty common sense rule.

Last night we ran our big generator until  10 PM.  We shut off the inverter and the batteries settled down to 12.7 volts.  They are still at 12.7 now (4 AM).  We should be able to wait until the sun hits our solar panels and turn the inverter back on.  I will have to check the temps in our frig and our underneath freezer also to see how they did.

See ya………

Ride Again…yepper/Selfie?

This morning I was up at 2:30 AM getting this blog updated and reading others.  It’s now 4:30 AM and I’m almost finished.   I hooked up our LP heater when I got up.  We only run it when we are awake.  Ed Kruty helped me ( I helped him) install it last year.  It’s great because it’s quiet and cheap and no use of electricity.  That’s a bigee when boone docking of course.  We’ve been running the 8K generator a lot.  One because it’s been a little over cast and two because we love using everything like we are hooked up to a 50 AMP site.  .

Mark and I are going for a little jaunt on the bikes this morning so I went back to bed about 5 AM. blah, blah…

At 9:30 AM I met Mark on route 95 & Plomosa Road and were off.  Our first unplanned stop was Parker Dam.DSCN0563

Then I did it…..my first selfie…so no complaints.  The camera is not the selfie type camera, no screen to see what your shooting…..DSCN0567

OK, I did it.  I don’t see what the fuss is about.

Our next stop was the London Bridge in Lake Havasu.DSCN0574

I was more interested in the ducks.  They were  more entertaining.  DSCN0576

We got fuel at route 95 and Interstate 40.  We wanted to get fuel there because it was AZ prices vice CA prices.  Also we could make it back to Quartzsite without filling up again.

We then crossed over into California via Interstate 40.  We got off at Needles and drove thru Needles on the old original Route 66.  We were really surprised that Needles looked like a dead old town.  There was no places to eat.  Really! We were looking for the small type restaurants on the main street (route 66).  Stores were boarded up, dumped, falling down, almost a ghost town.  Back near the interstate there was a Denny’s and a Jack In the Box.   We went for the Denny’s.  The waitress said, “Yep, we are the Ma Pa Restaurant here in Needles now.”  She said the town just faded away.  It was lunch time and it was us and a lady in there at lunch time.

After lunch we headed south on route 95 on the California side.  It was nice roads all the way south.  There were some sightings that looked like the rocks near Sedona, AZ.  Plus some mountains that reminded me of the rocks near Moab, Utah.  It was pretty unique with some long straight roads.  Very little traffic.

We got down to Blythe and stopped at a gas station just to get our bearings and make plans for our departure once we get into Quartzsite.  Mark is staying at the SKP social area and we are up on Plomosa road.  We figured I would get off the 1st exit and Mark would get off the 2nd exit and go our separate ways.  The price of gas was a dollar higher a gallon here in Blythe than in AZ.  No we didn’t get fuel.

We departed California and headed for AZ.  I got off at the first exit for Quartzsite and stopped at the Pilot for gas.  It was $2.37 for Hi Test (91 octane).  My bike wants/needs to run on 91 octane.  That’s fine since it’s getting 40 mpg.   I got back to the rig at 4 PM.  We had gone 240 miles today.

OK, it’s karaoke time at Silly’s Al.  A bunch of us decided to go.  Mark usually sings and the “girls” back him up.  It’s hilarious.  We couldn’t get a table in the front and got stuck all the way in the back to one side.  We couldn’t even really hear the singers much less see them.  So we did our own thing..drank beer and ate pizza.  Let’s see who was at the gathering…Ed/Sandy, Denny/Susie, Walt/Kellie, Carol & I, Mark N, & Bob/Pat.  We were back at the rig by 8 PM.  Real party people aren’t we?

We had to run the generator for 2 hours to bring the batteries up to 12.7.  This morning at 7 AM they were at 12.0.  Something isn’t right.  I know we got the residential frig and the freezer underneath.  I just don’t think they should be drawing that much current from 8 AGM batteries.  I think I will  look into it more later today probably.

See ya……….

Yep, The Blog Continues, blah blah…

Update… We are alive and everything is fine.  Blah, blah, blah.

Friday… We drove up to stay at Quartzsite SKP Social area on the east frontage road.  Along the way….DSC_0005 DSC_0012 DSC_0014 DSC_0019-001 DSC_0023-001

We met the Hall’s, Pinner’s and the Sierra’s there.  DSC_0018

Here’s Bob good and bad sides…you figure it out which is which.DSC_0030 DSC_0031

Just setting around waiting for the evening colors.DSC_0033 DSC_0028-001DSC_0027-001

It was nice except for the Interstate 10 traffic shooting by at night about 100 yards away.  We have never gotten use to that.

Saturday… Mark N. came rolling in and parked with us all.  That evening a bunch of us went and saw the New Christie Minstrels.  They should be called the OLD Christie Minstrels.  I don’t think there were many under 60 years old.  It was good entertainment.  We saw them last year here too.  Hey, $13 bucks a person and it was worth it.

Sunday….Mark and I went for a 320 mile bike ride.  We went to Slab City in California.  It was my 1st time and Mark hadn’t been in years and years.  It was worth the trip.  Very interesting is the Salvation Mountain.  The man who started it about 30 years ago has since passed but it continues on.  It’s sorta like a young hippie crowd of a dozen youngins doing/maintaining it now.  The camping area was not as bad as the stories I’ve heard of it.  I would camp anywhere within Slab City.  We stopped at the Imperial Dunes along the wayDSCN0551

then arrived at the entrance to Slab City.DSCN0554DSCN0561    DSCN0557DSCN0560  DSCN0559

No pictures of Slab City itself.  It was different and a lot of people would be scared to camp there but not me or Mark even.  It’s the same thing in a campground.  There are certain campers you would prefer not to park next too.  Anyhow that was a good ride.

Monday…… We decided to move on out to Plomosa Rd.  It’s about 10 miles north of Quartzsite off route 95 then about 2.5 miles on Plomosa Rd, hang a left and go into the desert.  We parked real close to the Elks BOF among Ed/Sandy Kruty, Art/Caroline Fennell, & Denny & Susie Orr.  Ed/Sandy brought our Polaris RZR side by side down from Congress.  Plus they got their toys.  It looks like a toy lot around here.  Art has his big toy his Medium Duty Truck.

Monday afternoon we baby sat Ed & Sandy’s dog Cody.  Our cat Rainbow and Cody reunited their friendships pretty quick. DSC_0039 DSC_0043 DSC_0044

Monday night we went to the VCR night out at Silly Al’s pizza.  Another great night with all.  This gathering of active and retired Escapees VCRs has been going on for years.

Tuesday….we shall see what we see…blah blah blah.

See ya……
