Can anyone justify to me why gas is 40 cents higher than a week or so ago at least here in Texas? I won’t believe if someone says it’s due to the flooding here in Texas. Wait a minute. Someone will say it BUT I won’t believe it that’s for sure. This day in age.. hogwash. Blah blah blah…..

First Carol went to Line Dancing this morning and returned around 10 AM. We hooked up the car and left in the camper for a 105 mile trip to the Ford dealer. We went south on highway 59 the entire trip and right thru downtown Houston. Not to bad but it did get slow a couple of times. We arrived about 12.30 and wasn’t there 10 minutes after unhooking the car. They will replace the right side suspension of the camper tomorrow. We ate lunch at Mickey D’s and got back home about 3 PM or so.
I decided I would wash the big RV today before putting it in the carport tomorrow. The roof wasn’t too bad at all. I did have it washed & waxed in Yuma in January. I don’t think it’s been washed since then except to get the bugs off the front. It’s looking good now with shiny wheels and all.
Next was to do a dump. Our black water tank was full and then some. Well folks, 2 months shy of 16 years of full timing and nearly a total of over 40 years of camping/RVing it happened. The black water hose broke when I pulled the handle. Yepper, broke almost in half in the middle. Now I’ve had little boo boos before of course but not on a scale this big. Oh yea, our toilet paper was all dissolved like it should be. As this was happening I jumped up very high to avoid any splash back. I think I might have seen the roof again it was so high. What goes up must come down. Shortly thereafter I changed my shoes and everything else I was wearing. I cleaned the area up before the Landlord (Carol) saw it. I was gonna take pictures but Carol said NO!
After that I retired for the evening.

At 8 AM the pork was at 185 degrees and I decided to go ahead and take it out. I wrapped it in foil, then a towel, then put it in a small ice chest to settle down. Yes, I took a small chuck out and tasted it. Whew, is that baby hot then comes the taste of the spices. Nice flavor but hot. Next I will see if I can get the spices to come up first and settle the hot down a little later on when I pull it.
Next was to check the Harley over. Plenty of oil, hardly any fuel, and the front tire needed about 7 lbs of air. No problem. My helmet face shield still had bugs on it from last week and they came off pretty easy. No problem.
Today is expected to be in the 80’s and sunny. I go and meet Mark at the little local gas station and fueled up. We did a 125 miles trotting around back roads for several hours. It was a real nice ride.
I got back and ate lunch and took a nap. Wind hitting me at 60 MPH tired me out.
It was 4 PM and time to take care of the butt that’s been resting in the ice chest since early this morning.
It was still very warm and looked real good. I tasted the bark (outer layer) and wow was it hot and spicy. It was really too hot. Now what? I ran water over the butt. As I did that it started to fall apart. The chunks that didn’t have any bark on them I set aside. I then cut the bark off the rest of it but left meat on it also. I ended up with this.
One bowl with no bark and it retained the mesquite smoke and spicy flavor. The other bowel retained the now somewhat hot flavor and the spicy flavor too. All of it is very tender and melts in your mouth. It’s among the best I’ve ever smoked.
The two big pieces of bark are still whole and are for the adventurous.
I went to bed at 8 PM (Sunday). Damn, I was pooped out. I woke up at 7AM (Monday).
Tomorrow (Monday) the camper (little RV) goes to the Ford dealer.

Let’s see what I can get into day. Well, I crawled under the little RV front end and saw that it needed a grease job. It had zerts which are little due hicky fittings for putting grease in a rubber boot thing. The rubber things were empty so I greased the front end which amounted to 5 fittings.
Now what? Oh yea. I got a butt thawed out in the mobile frig. Seems like I’ve gradually got to where I used seasonings but nothing really hot. I've gone back to my roots which is hot & spicy. Here are my ingredients today that I used for the rub.
Here’s the butt all rubbed down and ready and just setting out for a few hours to get to room temperature.
I putt it in the smoker at 225 degrees and will smoke with mesquite for about 6 hours.
It will be done in about 18 to 20 hours (Sunday) around 10 AM. Then I will wrap it up in foil and a towel and put it inside a small ice cooler. I will take it out around 5 PM or so. It will be tender…………
Who is this person backing into our driveway? Probably wants to know if they can haul away any trash.
It’s Mark in his old pick up! Or is it old Mark in his pick up? I think he said the pick up is a 1973 and he has had it since 1984. Wow, that’s a long time to have something. It’s old. I got something old like that. Let’s see, where is she…..
We tasted some of his special home brew stout beer. Yep, it was good beer.
We solved some world problems and declared a President all in one setting. We also decided to go motorcycle riding tomorrow. It’s suppose to be sunny and warm here in Texas.

I watched lizards today that were on our lot. That’s entertaining to do ever once in awhile. I might have to brake out my whale lens (500 mm)to get some shots of their eye ball reflections. These were taken with a 18X3oo Nikon DX VR lens then cut up (blown up) on Picasa at 50%.
It was cloudy off and on most of today and the temps were in the middle to high 70s. No sun or wind to burn you. I decided to pull the little RV out of the carport and watch the solar controller under these conditions. It’s a couple of switches and a meter. Just about any guy would be happy watching the numbers and knowing it all is doing what’s it’s suppose to. This pic shows numbers with some clouds.
And this time it’s still cloudy but not as bad.
The RV hasn’t been plugged in for several days. So forth and so on…..

Here Carol is giving that mouse and cat to Mark to weld. the mouse broke away from the wind vane.
It was a clear night and could even watch the stars. I’m not into night photos of the sky but it would have been a pretty shot.
Guess what? It’s still raining in Texas, duh. Hey, everything is done big in Texas. When it rains it pours is definitely an under statement so we know Trump didn’t say it. This rain the last few days is right up there with some of the worse rain we ever been in. It’s pretty loud on this Winnebago’s fiberglass roof. The little RV is under the carport and it’s just getting little sprinkles. I can actually wax it while it’s raining. Nope, ain’t gonna do that. It was 4 AM when I started this and I can hardly here anything from the pounding rain.
Another day of rain and allergies. Last year was my first year for me reacting to the pollen. Well, again this year. So be it.
The Ford dealer called me. They want the little RV Tuesday to replace the right suspension under warranty. I will take it down Monday afternoon to avoid the Houston rush hour traffic. They said they could do it in one day. Good. I will pick it up Wednesday after the AM rush hour. It’s 100 miles away.
Next to call was the medical testing facility over in Conroe, TX. They got me scheduled for the friggin 30th of this month. That’s three weeks away. I guess it’s not really an emergency for sure.
Since this is a blog I have to mention food don’t I? I went to the La Colona Mexican Restaurant for lunch with the Escapees Hq gang. There were 6 of us and the food was it’s normal great.
Those were the highlights of the day what can I say.

It’s 7 AM and 70 degrees. Whoaaaa. That’s fine as long as the humidity don’t get crazy. At 2 PM it was 60 degrees. Mother Nature is a little mixed up. Poured down rain something fierce especially in the middle of he night. Maybe we shouldn’t have sold those kayaks. I sat around reading up on high red blood cells on the internet. That was kinda of depressing.
The Ford dealer isn’t ready to do the little RV suspension yet. That means no little trips in the little RV that we wanted to do. I guess with the heavy rains here in Texas that’s not a really good idea anyhow.
I did do some more straightening up in the barn. It’s begining to look civilized.
Just a blah day which is not unusual lately. I think I will take a pork butt out of the freezer and start getting it ready to smoke this weekend. This one I’m gonna spice it up. I haven’t done that in a while. I have to mention Carol’s Navy Bean Soup. It’s really good…….

As we are RVers we watch the weather more than house dwellers normally. It affects us more since we are on tires and sometimes have to move based on the weather. Here in Texas we are having bad weather as you have probably seen on any weather channel. Well folks, the truth is we are wet and getting wetter here in the Livingston area. We are about 5 miles south of Livingston the city. Here at our spot we can still do things because of having two RV’s, one under a carport, a small barn and a mobile. Plus, no dirt/mud. Instead of moving the tires we move our bodies. It’s cheaper too!

I straighten up the barn a little bit. I decided to work on the carrier and storage bin for the little RV. Mark said he thought 4 screws would hold it. I put 10 in it.
It’s crooked because I haven’t installed it 100%. When I put it on for a big trip I will install hitch stabilizers.
Here’s two of the types that I have. They will tighten up the hitch and it will straighten up.
I have enough room to get in this rear storage door.
Having two RVs, one motorcycle, one car and one mobile I have to keep the keys straight. Here are just the little RV keys..
Next was this molding and it was located just to the rear of the step. The wood behind that white smooth looking fiberglass above the generator exhaust pipe was rotten behind it.
I scraped the wood out and used silicone to seal it all back up. It will blend in real nice when it dries. It will be better than it was.
Carol was busy in the garden the last two days. Tomorrow will be another 5 bags of mulch. I will take pictures when she is done. It’s a doctor appointment for me tomorrow to see if I have any blood. I should have plenty being that I haven’t been to any blood sucking dealers lately.
