Some more staff arrived today along with some vendors. Here’s a set up that I haven’t really seen.
I think she was saying, “Who me, work where?”
Here’s the new staff at their first big meeting.
What’s next….time to eat pizza.
Blah blah blah…………….
RVing - Everyday's An Adventure
This is where we spent this morning. NOPE, it wasn’t me! It was Carol. I’m next probably!
Carol woke up with more pain in her arm this morning. Her arm has been hurting for about a month. The urgent care doc said she has tennis elbow. Keep it in a sling and it will get better.
A few staff came in today. It was sure nice to see some friends we haven’t seen in quite a while. This place is humming like a bee hive.
See ya…..
Everybody is getting the fairgrounds ready.
Here’s our site tomorrow until late Tuesday. Then we move to a smaller area to make room and easier parking for attendees.
Then the clouds opened up most of the afternoon. Plus we even got hale. It also rained last night. The fairgrounds itself is hard packed ground so there won’t be any of that mud and getting stuck like previous years.
On the trip here the windshield got hit by a rock. We need to get that filled as soon as possible. It has legs and will walk.
Carol walking the cat…I mean the cat walking Carol.
I wonder who is getting these sites.
Everybody is working getting this fairgrounds ready. It is well thought out for an Escapade.
See ya…………
After yesterday anything is a good day. We pulled out from Campground Sucks with about 150 miles to Essex Junction,Vermont. Carol got these pictures along the way.
OK.. something new..text stop.
Tunnels where anyplace and every where around small towns in NY. We had to change our route several times.
I had no problem driving down small streets like this. The police had these bikers all pulled over for ?
We found a bridge over Lake George from NY to VT. We could have taken a ferry but with a 30,000 weight limit I didn’t want to push it. We’re about 31,000.
We arrived at Essex Junction about 12:30 or so. I’m down to about a 1/4 tank of fuel. Diesel is running about $2.50 a gallon. I was waiting to get it about $2.25…. dreaming evidently. We set up at our temporary FHU site for now as did others. Next week we will move to another site for the Escapade.
Our rig was dirty from about 10 minutes of rain on the interstate the other day. That gets a rig real dirty quick. I washed it before we left WV. It figures. When we arrived here I gave the rig a bucket wash…..kinda. I got the bugs off the front. Then I wiped down one side. Then I washed and shined the wheels and tires. Now I got one side left to do along with the rear end . The rear will be the hardest to do because it’s coated with a lot of road grime. Oh well, another day.
There’s about 2 dozen of us here now. Our jobs are to start prepping the facility for Escapade attendees. The regular advance staff will start coming in next Wednesday. Boot Camp starts Thursday and Escapade regular attendees come in Saturday and Sunday for five days.
My job is……. it’s……. and I ……… then ……?
Here’s the staff at dinner. The Escapade Directors put on this dinner of brats and burgers for us. They do another dinner Sunday. Mark does one Monday and my turn is Tuesday. Guess what I will prepare? After that we don’t eat for a week I think.
Those bottles on the table are all booze. We want to make sure the local liquor is drinkable for future attendees.
Time for a discussion on something that got listeners.
Come about darkness we all went back to our rigs for a very quiet evening. We get great cell phone service and WiFi.
It was a good day.
See ya…….
I remember we left at 7:15 AM and had about 450 miles to go to a campground. After that it seems to be a blur. The day wasn’t a really good day. Major traffic jams, roads like Louisiana, truck stop stupid delays, low bridges, rain which ruined my wash job, tight turns, stupid NY drivers, etc. I think I have a 24 hr memory blank spot. I get rid of the bad stuff in the memory and there isn’t anything left for yesterday. The campground, Frosty Acres, SUCKS. I don’t remember ever being in a bad campground like this. It took an hour to get checked in. They wanted to see our cat’s shot card. Really! If it wasn’t hot we would have left and spent the night on a lot somewhere. The experience was just terrible. Won’t be back for sure. It kinda summed up the day for sure.
Now that we’ve had a really bad day all the rest will be outstanding, right?
Carol fixed me a nice chicken sandwich for lunch which was about the only good thing for today. That’s about it thank goodness.
See ya……
Yep, got to get ready to move. We’ve been parked for about 2 weeks now here in West Virginia. Tomorrow it will be time to move on to the Escapade in Vermont. We will be back in about 18 days or so.
See ya….
I get a call from Mark saying he is nearby. I went down the road to meet him. No problem. Since we were real close to a restaurant called Doodles I figured it was a good place to have lunch on the way back. It’s a country restaurant with the local men folk setting around inside still sipping on their breakfast coffee. We walked in and it got quiet and we were watched being the new folks. After a few minutes it seemed like the men returned to talking about their hunting, dogs and pick ups.
Mark had a hamburger and was surprised how well it really tasted. I went for it – a crab sandwich. It too was delicious and it was only 4 bucks… unbelievable. Ice tea was a buck.
We then drove on to the campsite. Mark said later that the 4 mile back road to the campground was kinda tight but doable. Then there was the last mile of single lane gravel/dirt road. He said it was worth the drive as it turned out. He really liked the small family campground. He wants to come back after the Escapade already. No problem.
Kathy made a crock pot lasagna for us all. It was good. We sat out and drank beer. I think we got crocked again. We had many laughs in our own world of happiness.
See ya…………………..
