$50 Bucks!/MCD/Winegard

After the Escapade we were gonna go to a chapter rally over near Bangor, Maine.  I had a hard time getting information about the rally but finally got it.  They wanted $5o a couple for the chapter’s rally fee.  Then the campground was $28 a night for water/electric.  They were out of the full hook ups for the SAME price.  This is a rally not a show.   Screw that rally.    Let those people who pay too much for stuff go to that rally.  I heard things like,  “for the fun, it’s not that expensive.”  It is when it’s an Escapade chapter rally and most expensive single chapter rally by far we know of.

Anyhow, today I dealt with MCD shade company and Winegard sat company.  Our front MCD solar shade wasn’t working electrically.  I called them and they walked me thru the reprogram aspects.  It’s now working fine. 

Next was Winegard.  They sent me the wrong friggin $175 part.  This part will not bolt up to the dish.  Plus the updated replaced parts are not interchangeable with most of my parts.I called them and HAD to leave a message.  Four hours later I called them again and left another message.  I sent them two emails with pictures of their part and my part.  Finally I get an email response.  Yes, they acknowledged they sent the wrong part and will send out the correct one and at no cost to me.  I guess friggin NOT.

Next was to take out the 12” receiver extension on the hitch.  It drags too much being too long.  This is a pic with it in.

Look at this cat.  It has a whole bunch of nice soft places to sleep.  It sleeps on top of a hard cardboard box.  I guess she has more than enough padding.

Then it was time to give Steven a sign that Sandy Kruty made for his campground.

Sandy, he really liked it and says thank you. Oh by the way did you get our reservation request for Jan-Feb 2017 for a pull thru site??????  Your not answering our emails?????  Are you off the grid?

Bob Who ?

TUESDAY Carol wanted to go to Bob Evans for breakfast.  Why not, I’m only trying to lose 20 more lbs.  I know, this a test to see how much temptation it takes for me to excuse myself from the diet.  Like I say, “It’s not a diet.  I’m cutting back.  Pass the beef please.”

After Bob Evans we went to downtown historic Fredericksburg, VA.  Yes, it was a hard drizzle and too early for stores being it was 8:30 AM.

In the mean time we found two beer breweries. Both were still in the process of opening their new places.  Oh well back to town.  The stores were now open and the rain was now wet.  We went into several antique shops just looking around.  They aren’t what I an antiques.  More like some old stuff with high prices.  We went back to the rig and vegetated for the remainder of the day.

WEDNESDAY…We got 100 miles to do and right thru/around Washington D.C..  This is a dreaded must do route.  We went and got our son Kraig and headed North about 9 AM.  It was the best drive we ever had going this way, I-95 North.  I was totally surprised to no slowing down and going faster that the speed limit and all that stuff.  10 miles from our destination it happened.  Road construction with a lane closed.  After 10 minutes of stop and go we’re off and running.  A very nice trip.

Now here’s something to write home about.  We left Texas around 1,400 miles ago in and around all the rain.  The days that we drove it didn’t rain.  Oh there were some drizzle days but no hard rain.  The same was for our drive up to Baltimore.  Now when we stop it usually started to rain.  It’s usually the other way around.

We set up next to Carol’s brother’s garage.  I had the new roof sat dish arm mailed here and it was here.  Looks like the right part.  That’s for another day.  I threw out the portable sat dome and within minutes we had Direct TV.

Butch & Kathy Ford came over in the evening.  We sat around and solved most of the world problems.  We will let Trump fixed the rest.

Portable Satellite Location

Where would one put a portable satellite dish? Our neighbor, two sites down, arrived today and after hooking everything up/leveling then went for the sat dish pointing.  He must have had one of those special permission cards that says he can set it up anywhere even in another site.  He ended up one row behind him and another two sites down.  I need to get one of those cards he evidently has that says he can put his satellite dish anywhere he wants.  Come on people.  If receiving TV is that important then it should be on your list to check reception right after checking electric power.  Don’t put your dish in any site besides your own.  It’s just called common sense and respect for others area.

This was our entertainment for the day during this cool day (60s slight wind).

Just another normal day RVing…. just relaxing before we head north into the crowd of relatives Wednesday.  It will be fun for sure, always is.

Friends

You think the tree pollen is a little heavy around here.  This was just from overnight.

We went to see some friends in Callao, VA which is about 150 miles from here.  Let me see if I can get this right…Bob & Molly – the old Escapade Directors, Duane & Jean – future directors in training, John & Lora who are friends of all.

We all celebrated my birthday which was a surprise to me.

Bob told us a route for the way back home.  It started off by going over this small bridge.  It was a nice ride back.  We got back about 9 PM.

Visit The Grandchild & kids

Today was an easy day like most days of RVing.  I got up at 6 and Carol up at 7 AM. 

That damn CPAP machine is really putting a cramp on my sleeping.  I put it aside earlier this morning about 2:30 AM.  I had a hard time breathing with it.  Now my eyes are all watery, nose stuffed up and all because of this machine that’s helping me?  I looked into a crystal ball and I see in the future it won’t be around.  blah blah blah…..

We went to see the grand kids.  Our son has one son and is no longer associates with his ex-wife .…so forth and so on…..

We arrived and the adventure began…

The small brown picnic table we brought from Texas.  It’s just right for the kids.We went to McDonald’s that had a playground.  That was interesting and fun.  They loved happy meals and the playground.  Next they wanted to go to the Dollar Store.  That was an adventure with three kids going directly to the toy area.  They have been there before.

Then they wanted to go back home and show us their 6 new kitties.

Eddy got right into his Lego toy that he really liked.

Three kids and they just about wore us out.  I guess we’re officially old now.

This was our home that we sold in 2000 before we started to full time RV.  Don’t look like that they added any landscaping or anything for that matter.  We lived here I think for about 7 years maybe.

We went back to our home the RV.  We even sat outside along with the cat in her cat tent.  Then it started to rain so we put the awning out and stayed out a little longer.   It was nice to be back in the piece and quiet with no hustle bustle of society.

Friday the 13th

I woke up about 6 AM this morning.  You know I’m trying out a CPAP machine.  So far I’m losing about  1 to 2 hours of sleep each night AND don’t feel any different.  I’m suppose to be able to go on line and check my sleep data each day.  Well, I tried today and couldn’t do it.  I called the outfit that brought me the machine and charged Medicare  $1,012.50.  They said they couldn’t help.  I called the manufacture who said to contact my supplier.  Backed to square one.  I called my Dr Sleepy’s office who is handling everything in my case.  The lady said she would make contact with who ever is suppose to make it happen and personally call me with a walk thru on line.  I guess she felt I was looking for an excuse to stop using the CPAC.  She’s right.  No call by close of business!

I moved the portable sat dome over a dozen times yesterday.  We had some openings to shoot thru the trees but I couldn’t set the dome to see it.  I tried and tried.  Today I started to try again.  Why not?  It was more of a challenge to receive TV than watching it which is good.   Then it started to drizzle hard.  I even thought about getting on the roof.  I was going to but the ladder wouldn’t meet up with the RV ladder. 

Then it happened and it was Friday the 13th.  TV…..!

I turned the car around because of the ditch.  When setting in the car headed the other direction you can’t see the ditch.  It would be very easy to take off and forget about the ditch.  I turned the car around so we wouldn’t do it.

We stayed home and didn’t even go out very much.  The sun poked out every once in awhile later in the day.

I carried the cat out and walked around in the drizzle.  When we went in she took a bath and to sleep in her home.

What Time Is It Kids

No it’s not Howdy Doody Time.  It’s my birthday and I’m 68 years old but only in body.  Howdy Doody was a kids TV show from 1947-1960.  They would always start the show by asking, “ What Time Is It Kids?”.  Carol says I act like a 10 year old most of the time.  I say, hey, she married me.

We left late this morning compared to the other last few days.  We left about 8:30 AM.  Our first stop was Cracker Barrel up the road in Lynchburg.  We get a good big breakfast and split it.  It really is enough for two normal people, not Escapees.  We usually spend a night at their restaurant.  Some have RV parking in the back like this.  Yes, about a 40 footer without a tow.  We usually park as far as possible on their lot with no problems.  We’ve been doing this for decades.  Our good friends Butch & Kathy Ford introduced us to this of parking at Cracker Barrel.  Cracker Barrel even has maps inside next to their registers of all their restaurants.  How neat.  We left about 10 AM.

We had 140 miles to go today and we can’t check in until after 2 PM.  The park we are going to has had this RULE for years.  We traveled up route 29 which we haven’t been on for years.  The road is great and highly recommend it if you want that nice smooth road in the country.  Here’s a sign that some of you might not see to often.

Overcast again today.  Or if you were on the west coast (LA) I call it smog and it is.

We stopped along the way and got diesel for $1.99.  We arrived at the park at 2 PM of course. It’s a Coast to Coast (C2C) membership park here in VA which means $10 a night.  For information we pay $29 a year to our home park in TN and I think $79 a year to Coast to Coast.  Now all of their (C2C) campgrounds (400 or so) are $10 a night via the internet.  Some of the parks add on a amenity fee for anything they can think of.  That’s usually in the $3-5 range if they charge.  This park doesn’t.

Carol told them she would like a sight in the woods while checking in.That was a little too much in the woods (undeveloped) for us. 

We got this sight with FHU (30 amp).  Just don’t walk more than 3 feet on the side of your yard or you will roll down a hill.  We have no neighbors again and again we are way back into the park.  The portable sat dome can’t find a satellite.

Next was to Popeye's about 6 miles down the road for a early dinner.  Hey, it’s my birthday and I wanted some good spicy chicken.  Carol walked next door to the Taco Bell.  We got our stuff and headed back home. 

After feasting we watched a DVD movie and went to bed.

Thanks you all that already knew it was my birthday and sent wishes.  Carol put it on Facebook.

Quieter For Sure

We pulled out about 8:30 AM with 160 miles to go.  I’m starting to like these short trips……oh no.  Our entrance step wouldn’t make up its mind whether to stay in or go out going down the road.  Back and forth.  I stopped and put some WD 40 on the contacts.  Continued down the road and that didn’t work.  Stopped again and used electrical cleaner spray.  It worked.

The weather has been OK. It was suppose to rain the day we left Saturday.  It didn’t.  It was suppose to rain everyday were we stopped Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Today, Wednesday was suppose to rain on our parade but all we got was a very light drizzle going down the road. 

Here we are near Lynchburg at another Thousand Trails membership park.  FHU 30 AMP. 

Here we are in our site looking out our front window.  I think we had two vehicles come by all day.

They had nice shower/bathrooms right behind us.  We didn’t use them because we got our own.

Carol wanted to do the laundry so I hooked up the sewer and water. 

Carol’s brother Steven would be proud us .  Years and years ago said when you get to a park look for a site near electrical boxes.  Better electricity the closer you are.  So we did this time by accident.

This campground looked as if it was really hammered the last week or so with rain.  We went all the way in the back of the park and it’s nice.   Very few people and none around us.  Temp is about 70 degrees with heavy overcast. 

Local TV had a few channels so we didn’t set out the portable satellite.

It’s so quiet here that we can here the squirrels passing wind.

RVing Again

Last night (Sunday) was a noisy traffic night setting on the little Walmart lot. Traffic all night long on the frontage road.  Noisier than Quartzsite frontal road.

Monday we left about 8 AM again.  We now had 235 miles to go somewhere

 

These farmers out here grow almost bigger peaches than Texan farmers.

And here we arrive around noon

Our site for two nights.  It’s FHU w/50 amp.  Membership campground so no nightly fee.

Nice and biggggggg.

Diesel I saw from about $1.89 to $2.49 around here. 

Since we drove longer yesterday and we  skipped a campground so we can now and will stay two nights here.  This is a Point A to Point Z adventure with only a couple of long stops to smell the roses and they are long smells.

IF anybody knows anybody that is selling a Honda 90 or 110 Trail motorcycle let me know.  I’m very interested!!!!!!!!!!
