S L O W

Tuesday…. We (Carol & I) are by ourselves in Carol’s brother’s campground in the hills of West Virginia.  Everybody went home yesterday.

The internet connection is very slow here in the mountains especially adding pictures.   I guess it’s the squirrels.

We moved the RV forward in our site due to the soft ground and leveling was difficult.  We moved up about 7 feet along with firmer ground.  Plus I used some long and tall leveling blocks.  We are level.

Then it was TV sat dish time.  Nope.  Just because we are in the woods shouldn’t it still find the satellite?  Nope is the answer of course.  Plus we are changing from an older portable ground automatic dish to a roof full automatic and dual tuner with slimline.  Oh yea, I forgot to mention that Winegard Dish sent me some more parts.  I installed them without too much problem.  I got a big rubber mallet that I had to use to fine tune and make things fit.  Anyhow, about 5-6 hours the TV wasn’t working.  I got into the receiver set up and the dish setup.  Change this and change that.  No luck.

Now this morning (Wed) I did some more changing and was going for broke with the electronic settings.  Finally after 2 hours it’s operational.  The screen shows HD channels but will not receive them.  I will work on that later.

Going for a drive….

See ya.

S L O W

A shift in the barometric weather conditions have made the possibly of a daily blog become a difficult task and not just my lazy butt alone.  It’s so slow.  How slow is it?  It’s so slow that  I’ve cooked and ate breakfast while the blog was downloading to the internet.

Carol’s brother Steven arrived about 6 PM just in time for dinner.  Kathy and Butch made some barbeque chicken for all of us.  It was good.

About 9 PM Carol’s other brother David showed up.  We stayed up I think until about 10-11 PM. It was a long tiring work day for them.  Of course being retired, we were tired too, so we retired too….

Burnt Spam–Yum Yum

I don’t cook Spam the normal way.  I normally cook my Spam to where it is burnt.DSC_0001

See this little bit of meat in the center, I had to cook it a little bit more to get that pink out.  They will be black and crispy when I cook them.DSC_0002

Here’s our light for the screen room.   It’s really not that big of a light but shines away.DSC_0003

Here’s a comparison.  It’s to the right!DSC_0004

Looking out from our site.DSC_0008

Here’s the driveway up to the campground.DSC_0018

Turn around and there’s the campground.DSC_0012

Here comes Butch & Kathy Ford.  We all went to Alaska in 2014 and will again in 2017DSC_0025DSC_0026

They got all settled in while Carol & I made dinner for them.  Coming here and having dinner made for you – priceless.  We had smoked pulled pork on onion rolls, cole slaw and green beans.  It was good.

We sat in the fly tent for awhile then we moved to our front porch and had many laughs and beer.  I stayed up past my bed time.  All is quiet and well.

See ya….

Doing Nuttin

Here’s the pavilion.  It’s just about finished.DSC_0017DSC_0018DSC_0019DSC_0023DSC_0024DSC_0026

We went to Food Lion grocery store to pick up some bread and sauerkraut.  That ended up costing us a $100.  We did some rearranging when we got back later that day.DSC_0001DSC_0002DSC_0003

Well, that’s enough beer for us this weekend.

See ya…….

Here & There

We got up slow today.  How about 7 AM for me.  Damn, I overslept again.  You know, it really just don’t matter.  If I get up early, I get up early.  If I get up later, I get up later.  Seems like I’m getting up later that I did just a year ago.  I’m still fighting the CPAP machine and losing sleep.  Blah blah.

We are going to take our son Kraig back to his home in Fredericksburg, VA about 100 miles south.  It’s thru D.C. which isn’t fun.  We will decide then if we will than head northwest to Steven’s family campground about 125 miles OR boone it.

The trip thru D.C. wasn’t too bad. DSC_0003 We dropped Kraig off and decided to go on to Steven’s campground 125 miles more.  It wasn’t even noon yet.

We arrived.  Our site was a little soft from all the rain.  We sunk down about 4 inches.  Our jacks I put some shale under our 4 inches of board and it was still a job.

First try…… Steven – bring stiff rakes.DSC_0013

The jacks are down and the tire is up.DSC_0014

It will be OK as long as it don’t rain like hell again.

More pictures tomorrow.  The internet is slow.  I’m gonna have to complain to the management.

See ya….

There Is A Sun

It rained most of Sunday.  Today, Monday, the sun came out and we got to dry out.  It got up to the mid 70’s which is OK.  BUT later in the afternoon the sun went away, the clouds came out and it rained some more.

Fuel/gas continues to go up.  Around here, Baltimore suburb, gas is about $2.25 and up.  Diesel is about the same.  Both went up about 10 cents a gallon in the last couple of days.  The oil companies have most people brain washed in saying that summer is coming and it always goes up then.  Hogwash in that it needs too..blah..blah.

Carol & I went to Ft Meade to get booze.  Why Ft Meade?  No tax and the prices are average.  To get on base I scanned my military I.D. card in a machine next to the gate while in our car.  How stupid!  Now someone can still a I.D. card and then go on base with it.  ALL bases the guards would look at my I.D. card and look at the picture and my face.  Not anymore or at least not at Ft Meade.  How stupid!

Don’t remember what we did the rest of the day but it was an uneventful day of just meandering around doing nothing special.

Guy’s Table Ornament

[DSC_0065%255B3%255D.jpg]

Either empty the black water tank or remove the toilet to somewhere else.  It’s a guy thing……….

Up in Whitehorse, Yukon in route to Alaska, we decorated our table with Ed’s toilet.  Yes, we were getting schooled on how to remove one from one’s rig.  Ours isn’t full yet so we will leave it in place.

Plenty of parking for our 3 rigs north of somewhere……[DSC_00163.jpg]

There is life in Chicken, Alaska…..[DSC_00180023.jpg]

Going again in 2017 not 2016……!

Congratulations Are In Order

DSC_0097

Carol’s niece, Cori, got married to her long time buddy, Brad.  May they have many happy memories.  With this crowd they will.  Brad & Cori are going to Jamaica for their honeymoon.

There were 3 photographers so I stayed out of their way and didn’t use the flash a whole bunch so as not to interfere.  I got the pictures that tells the rest of the story and most were not posed for.  I got over 200 good pictures that I will give them.

They had an events coordinator, DJ and catered meal and open bar for the 150 guests.  I saw friends that I haven’t seen in over 10 years plus.  That was interesting.

I had a couple of sips of wine and three cups of coffee.  It was all readily available but I just didn’t want to drink.   We got there about 3:30 PM and we left about 8:30 PM.  I think it was suppose to go until about 10 PM.

Tomorrow we go back and help dismantle the set up to include all the lights.

See ya……
